Several folks mentioned loving the Museo Rufino Tamayo of pre-Hispanic art and the textile museum. The former was a private collection by artist Tamayo, who donated his collection to his home state of Oaxaca. Pieces came from many regions and just a few from Oaxaca. I suspect you can find lots more info online, if interested…I took a few photos to share.

The textile museum was largely clothing made on backstrap looms—portable looms making 12 to 20” or so long narrow cloth. Designs may be woven and/or embroidered.

We had visited the textile museum on the architecture tour and I’d forgotten it was right next to the beautiful cultural arts center and another art gallery. The gallery was featuring works by Japanese artists influenced by or living in Mexico (I’m not sure, but maybe both) and I’m just sharing a couple pieces that made me smile.
